Of all of the movies that I own, I keep coming back to the Shaft movies. I wish that they could have made more of them. Don’t listen to others, this one is just as good as the first one!

This is the typical story of the black man against the Italian-American(black blood is on them also..) for control of the ghetto. This one is good because it takes a look into black people with money in the early 70’s. This film has action, sex, story, chases and a mob boss who doe snot mind you talking sh*t to him, but touch his food or matrial items and he is pissed!

If you like black exploitation films or if you are white and you like raw action films, get this. Shaft is Africa was a little different(could be why they never made another), but still ok. Shaft’s Big Score should be your score.

Because of the success of the original “Shaft,” MGM upgraded the series, giving more action scenes and less nudity; so this time Shaft in the opening credits drives a car in the midnight New York while in the previous film he was walking down the street.

The basic of the story is not particuarly original. It is about the missing money from the safe of Shaft’s friend and insurance broker. As Shaft starts his investigation, a crime syndicate is looking for the money while it tries to kill him, but of course, it’s a very, very wrong idea. Our Shaft, keeping the police and Bumpy (Moses Gunn re-appearing from the original) at bay, gets what he wants, as always!

Gordon Parks (who had a long remarkable career as photographer, and himself appearing as a croupier here) demonstrates he is also good at presenting impressive action scenes, especially the chase scenes at the end of the film. However, by the today’s standard, they might look too long and stretched. Actually, the stunts themselves are impressive, but if the editing had been tighter, they would be much better.

Richard Roundtree looks as sexy as ever, and entertains us with his suave way of talking to girls. Other characters are drawn better than original “Shaft.” Charismatic Julius W Harris is cast effectively as a detective, and the idea of clarinet-playing gangster is interesting. And Drew Bundini Brown’s Willy is a standout. The movie is a satisfactory, if not perfect, action thriller.

An unbelievable movie, and deliriously better for it. Keanu Reeves is a hotshot law enforcement dude–Johnny Utah by name–investigating a series of bank robberies in L.A. Four gunmen, disguised in rubber masks of ex-U.S. presidents, have never come close to being caught, but veteran agent Gary Busey has a theory: The bandits are surfers. This prompts the superb line, “The ex-presidents rip off banks to finance the endless summer!” This movie’s full of dialogu like that, but instead of sounding ridiculous it creates its own infectious comic-book energy–ride the crest of it and you’ll find the film’s giddy zone. Patrick Swayze plays Bodhi, zen-master leader of the surfing clan, humming serenely with the wisdom of the waves. (Alarmingly, Swayze also did his own skydiving stunts.) Director Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days) stages the action sequnces with a visceral snap, and clearly has a gift for orchestrating pulp fiction. Though not a huge hit when was first released, Point Break has a well-deserved cult reputation thanks to its video afterlife. It’s not a stretch to call Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn the most sublime of all dance partners and Sergei Prokofiev the most gifted 20th-century ballet composer. And so it goes without saying that the 1966 film version of the Royal Ballet production of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet featuring Nureyev and Fonteyn as the star-crossed lovers is an absolute must-have for anyone who cares a whit about the art. Director Paul Czinner has made all the right moves, alternating between full shots of the performers with long shots that accentuate how Kenneth MacMillan’s fastidious choreography is inexorably linked to the characters, their story, the elaborate sets, and the viewer. Nicholas Georgiadis’s costumes are sumptuous without being overdone, the supporting dancers and ensemble are as exquisite as the leads, and John Lanchbery conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House with just the right mixture of joviality and tragedy that Prokofiev’s classic score needs but doesn’t always receive. –Kevin Filipski

All I have to say is I loved it, I’m a broad fun and if you owned season 1-4, you must acquire season 5. I’m already waiting for season 6 which comes out on December 2nd 2008. I like all the episodes that contained the Band of 7. It was spellbinding to watch how every one is looking for Naraku, Sesshomaru, Inuyasha and friends, Koga and friends and Kikyo. Devour!!!!!!

The five star rating I gave Night of the Living Expressionless is, of course, for the novel, uncut, unadulterated edition. The new is, quite simply, the most homely movie I’ve ever seen, even when compared to alarm classics like Diabolique (the modern French version), Psycho, Rosemary’s Baby, Halloween and The Gleaming. I saw NOTLD when I was 9 years stale on Creature Features at midnight after a funeral. I had nightmares for the next two nights. The film aloof gives me the chills whenever I peep it (usually at Halloween) .

When the 30th Anniversary Edition came out, I bought it on VHS as I was inspiring to peer what they termed as “recent footage.” What I got was a improper mess that butchered the recent film, removed the fresh music for a unpleasant synthesizer rep and added pointless footage that makes the viewer want to grind his teeth down to the gums. One of the additions is a unusual character: a fire and brimstone preacher. While the acting in the new is amateurish, at best, the “actor” who plays the preacher makes the current cast survey like Oscar winners by comparison. He snarls, and howls and gnashes his teeth like he has rabies. Even more ridiculous is the extra footage of Bill Hinzman — the “cemetary zombie” in the new. The extra footage shows Hinzman’s character emerging from the grave, then cuts to the unusual 1968 opening footage with Judith O’Dea and Russell Streiner. It’s absolutely ridiculous as Hinzman looks 30 years older in the modern footage. In addition, there are more zombies and a novel ending to the film that makes no sense whatsoever. This “recent” version is a fraction of trash that desecrates the most monstrous film of all time. Avoid it like the plague!

Okay…as I’d feared, my negative review of the John Russo-massacred “30th Anniversary Edition” of Night of the Living Dreary has been lumped unwittingly into this product’s review, so I’ m writing this one to explain.

This DVD edition is the best edition I’ve seen of the film yet. Anchor Bay may have raised the ires of legions of Living Dreary fans by releasing the sacrilegious 30th Anniversary Edition, but Elite Entertainment did correct by this unique edition.

George A. Romero’s personal appreciation appears in the befriend of this DVD — this immediately restores our faith. And the contents don’t disappoint — the recount and sound are pleasant, and though this doesn’t exactly acquire the richest batch of bonus materials (sets like the kindly 3-disc edition of Dario Argento’s Suspiria and the unusual double-disc Re-Animator both feature loads of extras), it is a nice solid collection. You accept a Duane Jones interview (sadly with only audio and no image, but tranquil ample) ; an on-camera chat between Judith Ridley (Judy) and Marilyn Eastman (Helen) ; the hilarious student-film spoof “Night of the Living Bread” by Kevin S. O’Brien (which also appeared in the double-cassette VHS edition) ; two commentary tracks with Romero, Russo, Russ Streiner, Eastman, Karl Hardman and others. One very illuminating fraction of this DVD for non-film-scholars is visually humdrum but informative — several histories outlining the beginning of Romero’s Latent Image company, on Hardman and Eastman’s company, and how the two were married to fabricate Night of the Living Listless.

THIS is the correct edition of Night of the Living Slow, the one to glean for both fans and non-fans alike. It includes all the considerable people (view that Russo, Streiner and Bill Hinzman were included in this release, despite their criminal participation in the 30th Anniversary Edition), and it presents the film the blueprint it wants to be seen.
Now I’m waiting for a deluxe release of Dawn of the Listless and Day of the Listless…
